Official rules and information in accordance with WADA standards
The Azerbaijan Boxing Federation fully complies with international anti-doping standards (WADA – World Anti-Doping Agency) and considers the protection of fair play a top priority.
WHAT IS DOPING?
Doping is the use of prohibited substances or methods to artificially enhance athletic performance. It harms the athlete’s physical and mental health, contradicts fair competition, and is considered a violation of international sporting principles.
PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES
- Anabolic agents – increase muscle mass
- Peptide hormones and their analogues
- Beta-2 agonists – used to improve breathing and endurance
- Diuretics and masking agents
- Blood doping and artificial oxygen carriers
- Stimulants and narcotics

ATHLETE’S PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
According to WADA principles, every athlete is personally responsible for complying with anti-doping rules. Even substances prescribed by medical personnel or coaches do not exempt the athlete from responsibility.
Athletes must:
- Check the composition of every medication and supplement they use
- Contact the federation or an anti-doping center in advance if in doubt
- Inform their doctor about their athlete status during medical treatment
- Be ready for testing at all times
THERAPEUTIC USE EXEMPTION (TUE)
In certain cases, the use of prohibited substances for medical treatment may be necessary. In such situations, a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) must be obtained.
To obtain a TUE
- Medical documentation and diagnosis must be provided
- An application must be submitted to the official anti-doping committee or a WADA-recognized body
- Approval is granted only for a specific period and for a specific substance
ANTI-DOPING TESTING

SANCTIONS FOR RULE VIOLATIONS
Violations of anti-doping rules lead to serious consequences.
Possible sanctions:
- Disqualification from 2 to 4 years
Disqualification of competition results and withdrawal of medals
Ban from participating in international competitions
Fines and reputational damage within the federation

A second violation may result in a lifetime ban from sport.
