1974 – HAVANA HOSTED THE FIRST WORLD BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The first World Boxing Championships were held in 1974, 49 years after the inaugural European Boxing Championships. The tournament brought together elite amateur boxers from around the world and was organized under the auspices of the International Boxing Association (AIBA). Havana, Cuba, hosted the historic event, which featured 274 boxers representing 45 countries.
