The European Boxing Championships will get underway in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, on September 17. Azerbaijan will also compete in the nine-day ranking event.

The Azerbaijani team will be represented by a full lineup in the men’s competition. Head coach Ravshan Khojayev, alongside coaches Nariman Abdullayev, Etibar Abdullayev and Mehman Guliyev, has selected Subhan Mamedov (50 kg), Amin Mammadzada (55 kg), Mahammadali Ashiraliyev (60 kg), Malik Hasanov (65 kg), Nabi Isgandarov (70 kg), Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg), Murad Allahverdiyev (80 kg), Seyid Seyidov (85 kg), Rauf Rahimov (90 kg) and Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) for the championships.

In the women’s competition, coach Rafiq Ismayilov will field Zeynab Rahimova in the 54 kg weight category.

Judge Evaluator Anar Babanli will also represent Azerbaijan at the championships.

More than 400 boxers from 40 countries are expected to compete at the event in Sofia.
