FOUR AZERBAİJANİ BOXERS ADVANCE TO THE WORLD CUP SEMİFİNALS

The quarterfinal bouts of the Boxing World Cup held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, have concluded. All four Azerbaijani national team boxers who entered the ring at this stage secured places in the semifinals.

In the 50 kg division, Sübhan Mamedov defeated Rudolf Qarboyan of Armenia. His opponent was unable to continue the fight due to an injury. Mamedov will next face Anvarjan Khodjiyev of Kyrgyzstan.

Nabi Isgandarov (70 kg) claimed his third consecutive victory. In the quarterfinals, he eliminated Farux Tokhtassunov of Kazakhstan by split decision — 3:2 (29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 27:30, 28:29). Isgandarov will take on Kaian Reis of Brazil in the semifinals.

Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg) earned a victory over Sanjar-Ali Begaliyev of Kazakhstan. The Azerbaijani boxer defeated his opponent 4:1 (30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 28:29, 29:28). He will fight Gabriel Guidi Rontani of Italy for a place in the final.

Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) also continued his winning run. The national team member dominated all three rounds in the quarterfinal against Luka Pratljacic of Croatia, securing a unanimous 5:0 victory (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). He will face Omar Shiha of Norway in his third bout of the tournament.

Each of the four Azerbaijani boxers who advanced to the semifinals has guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

It should be noted that the Boxing World Cup will conclude on April 26.
