The “Heydar Aliyev Cup 2026” international tournament among junior boxers is continuing in Baku. On the second day of the competition, which features athletes from 8 countries, nine more Azerbaijani boxers secured victories.
In the girls’ competition, Aysel Farajova (46 kg) defeated Diana Aytbayeva (Kazakhstan) 3:2, Aysan Miriyeva (46 kg) beat Elene Gremelashvili (Georgia) 5:0, Tunca Murshudova (50 kg) overcame Sevana Agali (Azerbaijan) 4:1, and Aynur Valizada (63 kg) defeated Aylan Rashidzade (Azerbaijan) by RSC.
In the boys’ tournament, Eljan Musazade (54 kg) defeated his teammate Miralam Nagiyev 5:0, Tunar Mehdiyev (60 kg) beat Samir Rustamov 3:0, Oguz Ibrahimli (60 kg) overcame Matlab Mammadov 5:0, Yusif Mammadli (66 kg) defeated Yunus Garazada 4:1, and Erdem Tekin (+80 kg) beat Kazakhstan’s Arsen Muratov 4:1.
A total of 31 bouts are scheduled on the second day of the tournament, being held at the Baku Boxing Center. The fights will begin at 3:00 PM.
It should be noted that, alongside Azerbaijan, teams from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova, and a team of neutral athletes are competing in the tournament. A total of 185 boxers are taking part, with winners to be determined in 14 boys’ and 9 girls’ weight categories. The finals of the “Heydar Aliyev Cup 2026” will take place on May 7.
