The World Boxing Cup is underway in Guiyang, China. On the second day of the ranking tournament, three more members of the Azerbaijani national team secured victories.
Competing in the 55 kg weight category, Amin Mammadzade faced Paak Ying Hon of Hong Kong. The Azerbaijani boxer claimed a dominant 5:0 victory (30:26, 30:25, 30:24, 30:25, 30:26) and advanced to the Round of 16, where he will take on Samandar Olimov of Uzbekistan on June 17.
Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg) also opened his World Cup campaign with a convincing 5:0 win (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). He will face Mohammad Nurani of Iran in the quarterfinals on June 19.
Alfonso Dominguez (90 kg) continued the winning momentum for the Azerbaijani team. The reigning world champion defeated Germany's Kevin Lebowski by a unanimous 5:0 decision (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28) in the quarterfinals. By advancing to the semifinals, Dominguez has secured at least a bronze medal. He will next face Isaac Okoh of Great Britain for a place in the final.
The World Boxing Cup will conclude on June 21.
