The semifinal bouts of the Boxing World Cup in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, have concluded. Three members of the Azerbaijani national team secured victories and advanced to the finals.
In the 50 kg weight category, Subhan Mamedov faced Anvarjan Khodjiyev of Kyrgyzstan. The Azerbaijani boxer defeated his opponent by a 4:1 decision (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 28:29). He will face Issam Bensaylar of Morocco in the final.
Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg) continued his teammate’s success. On his way to the final, he earned a confident 5:0 victory (30:27, 30:26, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27) over Gabriel Guidi Rontani of Italy. Jafarov will take on Tauan Silva of Brazil in the decisive bout.
Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) also emerged victorious in the semifinals. This time, the Azerbaijani boxer defeated Omar Shina of Norway by a unanimous 5:0 decision (29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28). In the final, Abdullayev will face Davit Chaloyan of Armenia.
Meanwhile, Nabi Isgandarov (70 kg) fought Kaian Reis of Brazil in the semifinals. Following his defeat to the finalist, the Azerbaijani boxer secured a bronze medal.
It should be noted that the World Cup will conclude on April 26.
